Andrew Palmer joined the team at Gasman law in 2020, bringing four decades of legal experience with him. He has dedicated his career to serving clients in the construction and design industry, with a specific focus on complex insurance claims.

Born in Winchester, Massachusetts, Andrew received his B.A. in Government from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst in 1969 before earning his J.D. from the Suffolk University Law School in 1975.

After law school, Andrew spent three years with the Peerless Insurance Company, focusing on surety and fidelity bond claims, before moving on to Shand, Morahan and Co., Inc. in 1978. During his 16 years there, he handled professional liability claims involving architects, engineers, medical professionals, investment advisors and mutual funds as well as various product liability claims. In addition, he supervised a staff of six attorneys, covering a geographic territory from the western United States including Alaska and Hawaii, and managed the firm’s claims audit department. Andrew also gained experience in handling international claims, including those originating in Iran and Nauru.

In 1994, Andrew joined Peterson & Ross in Chicago, representing various insurers regarding professional liability insurance, director and officer errors/omissions insurance, and various insurance products for the non-profit sector.

In 2002, Mr. Palmer joined CNA Insurance Companies in Chicago, Illinois as a Reinsurance Claims Consultant. His responsibilities involved the administration of various reinsurance matters, including the litigation and arbitration of claims involving professional liability and surety. Andrew also served as an attorney for the Cook County mandatory arbitration program during his time at CNA, acting as an arbitrator on a three person panel.

In 2011, Andrew co-founded the Palmer Law Group, P.A., located here in South Florida. The firm focused on construction law and commercial litigation.

Andrew has delivered an number of seminars on construction contacts and insurance, and his work on construction insurance and surety programs has been published in Architect and Engineer Liability: Claims Against Design Professionals.
